Loopaper · We're happy to help

Need a hand with Loopaper? You're in the right place. Loopaper is a native macOS menu-bar app that turns any video into a smooth, forever-looping live wallpaper across every display — and if something isn't working the way you expect, we're glad to help. The fastest way to reach us is email; below that, you'll find quick answers to the questions we hear most.

Contact us

The best way to get help is to email us directly. There are no accounts and nothing to sign into — just send a message and we'll take it from there.

Email: syrianapps.business@gmail.com

We're a small studio and we read every message. Email is the fastest way to reach us, and we aim to reply within a few business days.

To help us solve your problem faster, please include:

  • the version of macOS you're running (Apple menu → About This Mac);
  • which Mac you have (Apple Silicon or Intel);
  • a short description of what you did, what you expected, and what happened — with the steps to reproduce it; and
  • a screenshot or short screen recording, if it helps show the issue.

Common questions & troubleshooting

The live wallpaper isn't showing up, or it appears and then disappears.

First, check that Loopaper is running — its icon sits in the menu bar at the top of the screen. If the wallpaper shows for a moment and then vanishes, that is usually Loopaper working as intended: it pauses whenever motion isn't worth the energy, such as when your desktop is fully covered by windows, when the Mac is on battery, or when it is locked or idle. Bring the desktop into view or plug in, and it comes back on its own. If one particular display stays blank, open the Loopaper window and make sure the wallpaper is switched on for that screen — a display can be set to Off so your normal macOS wallpaper shows there. Still stuck? Email us and mention your macOS version.

The wallpaper stutters or doesn't loop cleanly.

Loopaper normalizes heavier or awkwardly-encoded clips when you add them, so most videos loop smoothly. If one judders, try removing it and adding it again, or use a standard H.264 or HEVC .mp4 or .mov file — very long, very high-bitrate clips are the usual cause. Smoothness comes from the clip's encoding, not from your Mac working harder.

Does the live wallpaper hurt performance or battery life?

It shouldn't. Loopaper plays through native hardware video decode rather than a web browser, and it is power-aware by design. It pauses playback when the wallpaper is covered, when your Mac is on battery or in Low Power Mode, under thermal pressure, and when the Mac is locked or the screen saver is running — and it never blocks your display from sleeping. Playback pausing and resuming as conditions change is expected behavior, not a bug.

Can I use a different wallpaper on each display?

Yes. Loopaper appears on every connected display and handles plugging or unplugging a monitor automatically. Open the Loopaper window to give each screen its own clip, choose Fill or Fit per screen, or turn the live wallpaper off on one display so your usual macOS wallpaper stays there.

Where is the companion screen saver?

The screen saver is a separate, free download, because the App Store doesn't allow an app to install a screen saver for you. Download it from the screen saver page, double-click Loopaper.saver, and click Install. Then open System Settings → Screen Saver, scroll to Others, and choose Loopaper. It mirrors whatever wallpaper the Loopaper app is currently showing.

How do I update Loopaper?

If you installed Loopaper from the Mac App Store, updates arrive automatically, the same as any other app — you can also check manually in the App Store's Updates tab. If you installed it directly from our site, download the latest version from the Loopaper site and replace the app in your Applications folder. We announce new releases on the site.

How do I uninstall Loopaper?

Click the Loopaper icon in the menu bar and choose Quit, then drag the Loopaper app from your Applications folder to the Trash. Your imported videos are copied into the app's Application Support folder; if you want to remove those too, delete the Loopaper folder there. If you installed the companion screen saver, you can delete Loopaper.saver from the Screen Savers folder in your Library.

How do refunds and billing work?

Loopaper is free, with every feature unlocked. The only paid option is a future one-time purchase — a lifetime unlock that removes a small watermark — and it is not available yet. When it is, Apple handles the purchase through the App Store, so Loopaper never sees your payment details. Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple: request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
